Frequently Asked Questions
-
What is an Independent Stylist?
Independent stylists rent a chair in our space. These stylists align with our salon vision, but manage their own hair care business within our business. Independent stylists determine their own pricing, service menu, products used and client bookings.
-
What is a Color Fee?
The Color Fee covers the usage of varying products used throughout your service. Our color services now have a Color Product Fee, $15 for standard color, $30 for color sessions. Color Fee will be added at check out.
-
Do you offer men's haircuts?
Yes! We offer a variety of services for masculine styles, including men’s haircuts, beard trims, neck shaves, gray coverage, nose waxes and more. We have stylists that specialize in short and long hairstyles, some who have been doing men’s hair for years! Please book according to hair length.
-
Do you take walk-ins?
We are appointment based, but if we have the time, we’re happy to see you! Please consider calling us first, to see if we have an opening before you stop in
-
Do you offer kid's haircuts?
We believe kids should have great hair too! All of our haircuts are timed and priced determined by length, and include the full salon experience. Or you can book a dry haircut to maintain their current look.
-
Should I book a consultation?
Our consultations are complimentary, and a great way to meet in-person and introduce us to your hair. We want to know about you, your lifestyle, hair goals and hair history. From there, we can help find the best way to reach your end look, estimated price and timeframe.
-
Can I bring my kids to my appointment?
Your littles are welcome in our salon space, but please prepare a way to keep them entertained throughout your service. Bring coloring books, iPads, headphones, snacks. And please no playing on our furniture, equipment - other clients share this space.
-
Do you offer color services for kids?
To protect the integrity of their hair, we do not offer lightening services on people younger than 15 years old. That includes any service using bleach products. We can apply semi-permanent color if younger than 15, with parent permisssion, as long as we do not need to lighten the hair. Pricing is as listed for color services.
-
Do you offer free parking?
Yes, we have free parking! We share a parking lot with next door businesses and have 3 spaces in front for our clients. Can’t find a spot? There’s also free street parking nearby!
-
What if I’m running late or need to cancel my appointment?
We know that things happen! Give us a call if you’re running late - we can work with a 5-10 minute grace period. Need to cancel? Try to do so before our 24-48 cancellation window closes, to avoid fees. Learn more about our policies here
-
What is a balayage, really?
Pronounced “bah-lee-ahge” but we’ll accept any way you want to say it! At OAK BRUSH, balayage is a way of highlighting your hair, to create a softer grow-out at the roots. Sometimes, we create the look with foils. Our stylists offer balayage for clients who want a lived-in look - think sun kissed hair!
-
Should I shampoo my hair before my appointment?
It’s not necessary. We prefer clean, dry hair for most services, but no need to shampoo moments before you arrive. If you are doing any color service, please show up with dry hair.
-
I’m a guy with longer hair - how should I book my appointment?
We offer full haircut experiences, which include a shampoo wash and style, and categorize our haircuts by hair length. Find the length of your hair on our menu and please book accordingly.
-
What’s the difference between a partial and full lightening service?
A partial service has color placed just from the temples and up. Book a partial for a more subtle change. A full service will be the entire head of hair. Book a full if you’d like to achieve a dimensional look all throughout your hair.
-
Do you offer Bridal Hair services?
Yes, our independent stylist, Caitlin Bailey, offers wedding hair services! Please schedule a consultation with her to go over the details.
